Here are some ideas to help you move forward!

1. Give your resume a modern look!

Why? Along with your experience and skills, your resume communicates other subtle messages. Make sure your resume has a modern format and font. Also use keywords that reflect the latest skills in your area of expertise.

2. Remove age related information from your Resume and LinkedIn® profile.

Why? Anything you say can be used to select you out of the recruitment process. Age related information is a quick and easy way for the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to select you out.

3. Project health and energy!

Why? Recruiters may worry that you can not meet job demands. If you are not in shape, start exercising and eating healthy. It will show!

4. Update your technology skills!

Why? Recruiters may worry you are not up to date with technology. Participate in technology courses even if it is at a basic level.

5. Prepare to talk about it in the interview!

Why? Recruiters want to know if you will ask for too much money, if you will be a good cultural fit, and how long you are planning to stay in the workforce.

In conclusion, you can not control other people’s biases. But you can, however, take control of your job search strategy. Fine tune your job search to project the better “You” and land the job!
